Functionally Gradient Lithium Disilicate CAD/CAM Block

Amber Mill Direct is a pre-crystallized lithium disilicate block for chairside restorations. Unlike conventional lithium disilicate materials, which require a post-mill crystallization firing, Amber Mill Direct is designed to go from mill to polish without a firing cycle, shortening the fabrication timeline.

Key Properties

• No Crystallization Step — Milled restorations can be polished and delivered without a firing cycle.
• Zone-Specific Microstructure — The block forms distinct microstructures in the cervical and incisal regions, distributing strength similarly to natural enamel and dentin.
• Graded Translucency — Shade transitions from cervical to incisal without manual layering.

Finishing Options

Option 1 — Mill and Polish
Mill the restoration and polish directly, without a firing cycle.

Option 2 — Mill and Stain/Glaze
For cases requiring additional characterization, a stain or glaze cycle can be applied at or below 780°C.

Mechanical Properties

Average biaxial flexural strength after glaze firing is 355 MPa (up to 320 MPa as-milled, before glaze).

In chewing simulator testing (1,000,000 cycles, 1.5Hz, 10kg load, in pH 7.2 water with thermal cycling between 5–55°C), fracture load remained stable before and after simulation, with occlusal wear resistance comparable to a reference lithium disilicate product.

Optical Properties

Contrast ratio testing across the incisal, middle, and cervical zones falls within the reported range for natural enamel (0.3–0.90) and dentin (0.6–0.95).
